NYC Hep B & C Advocacy Training
Wednesday January 12 (2-4PM)

People working in the field of hepatitis B and C are in a powerful position to influence elected officials to support legislation, policies and funding that will support your community, profession, organization, and patients.

Attend this Hepatitis B and C Advocacy Training to learn about current policy and advocacy opportunities, the process for requesting funding for your organization or cause, and to learn about other ways how to get involved.

This training session will:
  1. Describe the purpose and the history of the City Council funded Viral Hepatitis Initiative and provide an overview of the NYC budget process
  2. Encourage programs to find patient stories and to review program outcomes to educate leaders on the importance of ongoing funding for vital programs that support education and patient care for people with hepatitis B and C
  3. Review the grant application process for City Council funds
  4. Distribute copies of the advocacy toolkit which was developed by advocates to help you in this process

The training is organized by the Viral Hepatitis Advocacy Leadership Team:
·       Hep C Lead: Donnette Perkins
·       Hep B Lead: Paul Lee and Crystal Oh
·       Hep C Peer Lead: Jose Martinez
·       Training Leads: Meg Chappell and Joy Cambe
