4K for Cancer Scholarship 2022 Application

About the 4K for Cancer Scholarship

Dear 4K Community,

We are so proud to be changing the lives of young adults impacted by cancer in meaningful, significant, and sometimes intangible ways.  We're so thankful to you for making that possible.  Our clients -- the patients our Patient Navigators meet with daily, residents who have made Ulman House their temporary home, Cancer to 5K walkers and runners, and our support group participants -- are as diverse as their cancer diagnoses, coming from a wide variety of cultural, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds. It creates a richness of experience which enhances life for all involved with Ulman.

Our 4K for Cancer teams, however, have not historically reflected the diverse population we serve, and we have room to grow in making the 4K a more inclusive place for all.  You'll learn more soon when we unveil our new 5-year strategic plan- about how we're dedicated to making Ulman's staff, board, programs, and community  diverse, welcoming, and accessible for all.

The 4K for Cancer is an  invaluable, life-changing experience which enables riders and runners to gain leadership, communication, philanthropy, problem solving, and interpersonal skills and knowledge -- but it isn't accessible to everyone. That's why we're pleased to announce the creation of a new scholarship to make the 4K more accessible to participants from diverse backgrounds, to enrich the experience of the 4K, and to reflect the communities we serve.

This scholarship will be funded through donations from our community and we ask you to consider giving whatever you can.  It is our hope that one scholarship this year will grow into multiple scholarships in years to come, and that in the near future, the 4K for Cancer, and all of Ulman's programs, will become richer, stronger, and more equitable.

Cancer changes lives... so do YOU!

-the 4K team
