Overview of Funding Opportunity FC 651 Coordinated Relief for School Health: The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) plans to make available up to $300,000 in federal funds from the Centers for Disease Control to help supplement Healthy Schools Programs in participating districts and schools; and/or school-based applicants able to link to
COVID-19 Vaccine Equity Initiatives in 20 priority communities statewide.
Successful applicants will leverage existing funding to implement or enhance COVID relief initiatives, utilizing family engagement and racial justice frameworks to include priority populations in the selection of CDC-recommended school-based strategies to prioritize, adapt or monitor the success of during the remainder of School Year 2021-2022:
- Implement CDC’s recommended school-based COVID-19 prevention strategies
- Increase use of COVID-19 testing guidance in K-12 settings among schools providing testing
- Promote vaccine information, knowledge, and confidence across all components of the coordinated whole school health community
- Implement social, emotional, and mental health programs, such as school employee wellness programs or anti-racism pathways for teachers and staff
- Implement social emotional learning programs, e.g. curricula addressing impact of COVID-19 and/or school closures on students
- Increase the reach of student and family-centered programs, partnerships and interventions to engage and impact those most adversely affected by COVID-19.
