With funding from the State Legislature, OSPI is happy to announce that the agency will pay for all Custom Tests. Similar to previous years, districts must request Custom Testing through this form. Districts are responsible for vetting students’ language abilities before requesting.
*No-Show Policy: OSPI will be reporting on many different aspects of Custom Testing, including language information, credits earned, and district engagement. This data will be shown at not only the state level but the district level as well. If districts are requesting assessments or scheduling tests but not following through, OPSI will have to report the no-shows when explaining how the funding was spent. Once scheduled, raters must be paid whether the student tests or not. Set students up for success by having them take practice prompts to confirm writing and speaking abilities as well as following up with Lisa or Veronica if circumstances change. IMPORTANT NOTE: While all languages are eligible for proficiency assessment, Competency-based Credit, and the WA State Seal of Biliteracy, assessment evaluation is limited by the pool of current raters. This means that while OSPI and Avant work diligently to find language evaluators, it might not be possible within this school year. If you or your students have access to literate speakers of the language you are requesting, please fill out all the needed information.
