Solidarity opens doors 2022

Welcome

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Leonard Cheshire, a leading global pan-disability charity.

We are opening the recruitment for our ESC project  'Solidarity opens doors' which will start on February 1st 2022 and finish on January 31st 2023. This project is based in the following locations:
  • Community-based ESC (England): Greater Manchester (2 volunteers); Newcastle (2 volunteers); Bristol (3 volunteers); Gloucester (2 volunteers).
  • Service-Based ESC (Wales): Danybryn (2 volunteers); Lloanhennock Lodge (1 volunteeer); Dolywern (2 volunteers); Eithinog (2 volunteers).

Description of the projectESC are a very valued resource at Leonard Cheshire to help us reach our vision of a society where everyone can live as they chose. These vacancies are for both service based and community based ESC projects: volunteers will collaborate with our care homes providing leisure activities to our customers, and will support our many programmes in the local areas, putting their passions to use while developing new skills and expanding their knowledge of disability, inclusivity, and the care sector.
  • Key tasks: We strongly believe that no ESC project is equal to another so our volunteers will be able to co-create their activities according to their interests and learning goals. Given this, the areas you will be able to collaborate to are:
    • Supporting customers in care homes to live the life of their choice promoting indoor and outdoor activities, trips, visits to the local community and more
    • Creating creative and media content
    • Activities to encourage young disabled people to join in (surfing, rock climbing, accessible skiing…) and be more active and healthy
    • Environmental projects (e.g. beach clean ups)
    • Music workshops
    • Organisation of events (e.g. festivals and dancing competitions)
    • Fundraising events
    • Campaigning for a more inclusive society
    • Helping young people with employability skills
    • Helping our customers developing digital skills
    • And more...
