NSW Government Schools International Student Awards Nomination

Nominations for the NSW Government Schools International Student Awards are now open, and will close at 5pm on Friday 29 October 2021

Student Awards

Categories
  • Academic Award: students who have excelled academically can be nominated for this award. The student's anticipated ATAR should be 90 or above.
  • Leadership Award: students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities can be nominated for this award.
  • Resilience Award*: students who have demonstrated extraordinary resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic through their attitude, engagement and perseverance or in supporting others, can be nominated for this award.
*Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and reduction in school activities, the Resilience Award is replacing the School Service Award in the 2021 nomination round. 

Eligibility

Students must be in Year 12 and enrolled through the International Student Program. The student may be nominated for one or more student awards by a school staff member, and the nomination must be endorsed by the school principal.


Nomination Instructions: items to prepare

If you are a school staff member nominating a Year 12 student, please prepare the below items before commencing the form:
  • the student's contact details, including overseas email and telephone numbers if they will be returning to their home country after the HSC
  • principal's endorsement for this nomination
  • one or more photos of the student (high resolution jpeg/png 1MB - 10MB)
  • a list of the student's activities/achievements relevant to their award nomination
  • a summary of no more than 100 words outlining the basis of the student's award nomination

School and Staff Awards

Nominations for school and staff awards may be submitted by school staff or anyone in the school community. Self nominations are welcomed. 

International Student Coordinator of the Year Award

This award recognises professional excellence in delivering services and support to international student during 2021 that have:
  • contributed to the ongoing improvement of international students' learning experience;
  • encouraged a culture of collaboration and connection between international students and local students; and/or
  • supported international student wellbeing throughout the pandemic and remote learning phase.   

Eligibility

The ISC's school must be registered with DE International and the activities and initiatives for which they are nominated must have taken place in the 2021 calendar year.

Nomination Instructions: items to prepare

If you are nominating an International Student Coordinator (ISC), please prepare the below items before commencing the form:
  • the ISC's contact details
  • a statement of no more than 400 words outlining the ISC's professional excellence and achievement in delivering services and support to international students.

International Student Program School Excellence Award

This award recognises best practice in delivering activities and initiatives during 2021 that have:
  • employed a whole-of-school approach to supporting international students;
  • assisted students to adjust to living in Australia and to school life in NSW;
  • facilitated connections between international students and the local community;
  • supported international students to develop leadership skills; and/or
  • provided additional support to international students throughout remote learning.  

Eligibility

Schools must be registered with DE International and the activities and initiatives for which they are nominated must have taken place in the 2021 calendar year.

If you are nominating a school, please prepare the below items before commencing the form:
  • the school's contact details
  • a statement of no more than 400 words outlining how the school has demonstrated best practice in delivering activities and support for international students.
