Identify the Support that Helps
You should have completed the self-monitoring activity, “Monitor Your Social Support”. You will need the monitoring form from that activity to complete this exercise. The goals of this activity are to:
- help you identify support that is actually helpful,
- select the person who is best able to provide each type of support, and
- make a plan to request the support.
To get started, examine the types of support from your two day monitoring activity. Which were most helpful according to your ratings? Look for items with ratings of 3, 4, or 5. Cross out those with lower ratings.
Of those that remain, look at the positive benefits and negative effects. Cross out those with negative effects.
