NAAE XLR8 Program Guidelines & Application

The National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE) is pleased to accept applications for the 2021 NAAE XLR8 Professional Development Program.

XLR8 is a year-long professional development program that targets agriculture teachers in their 7th-15th year of teaching.

The overall goals of this program include:

- develop experienced teacher leaders who will mentor other teachers in the profession;

- provide mid-career level specific professional development to participants;

- as well as increase overall longevity and satisfaction of participants with their chosen career of teaching agriculture.

This program will include participation in an intensive professional development experience (multiple sessions) during the 2021 NAAE convention, recurring virtual learning experiences, and on-line collaboration using the NAAE professional learning community Communities of Practice as well as other social media tools.

All active NAAE members who are currently in their 7th to 15th year of teaching are eligible to apply. Each applicant must have been a NAAE member the three (3) previous years while teaching agriculture. Participants must also be active members and working in school-based agricultural education in the 2021-2022 NAAE Membership year.

Program Details and Expectations

Each XLR8 participant will be expected to engage in the following professional development activities:
(1) XLR8 Institute at the 2021 NAAE Convention, November 30-December 4, 2021 in New Orleans, LA;
(2) four-six virtual learning experiences;
(3) at least one social media engagement event;
(4) and submit at least one blog post

Each participant will receive a scholarship for:
(1) registration for the NAAE convention;
(2) round trip, coach airfare to the NAAE convention from the commercial airport nearest the recipient’s home (those choosing to drive a personal vehicle to the convention will be reimbursed at the current NAAE mileage rate up to the dollar amount of the round trip airfare);
(3) and lodging for five nights at the NAAE convention

NAAE will not pay for travel expenses, registration fees, or room cost related to guests of XLR8 scholarship winners.
