ORIENTATION:

NP STUDENTS: All NP Students are required to connect with their NP preceptor immediately, for the purpose of the NP preceptor providing the IPAC review and Donning and Doffing of PPE competency checklist. No clinical activities or unit tours are permitted until the donning and doffing competency checklist is completed.
Consolidation Nursing Students: Connect with the Clinical Practice Leader - CPL - of the unit - this is the "destination contact" in HSPnet for the PPE donning/doffing training.
Allied Health Students: Connect with the Professional Practice Leader -PPL - of the unit for this PPE donning/doffing training. If you do not know who this is, you may contact the SHN Placement Office for assistance.
Nursing Students in a GROUP: Only the Group Clinical Instructor may contact the unit CPL to confirm first-day schedule of PPE Don/Doff Checklists and Unit Tour.
Part Two of Onboarding is found here and must be completed within fourteen (14) days of your start date, for ALL students and CIs, no exceptions, even if SHN staff. Please open this link and bookmark it.

**PLACEMENTS are NOT permitted to start until this session has been completed and your competency for Donning and Doffing PPE has been signed-off as above. There are no exceptions.

1. For IT Access: Not all clinical students require computer access (ie: Medical Device Reprocessing). If you are in a placement that requires access, the goal is to provide you your computer access credentials via email - to the required SCHOOL-ISSUED email address you provided, within fourteen (14) days of your start-date. However, this may not always be possible. Please be patient.

2. For Access Card (for parking and internal/external doors): Print this confirmation email and the PDF you receive from SurveyGizmo once you submit your profile. Take both to the Security office - WITH your preceptor - at the hospital where you have been placed. Both documents are required because both contain details the Security Office needs to verify about your placement, prior to issuing an Access Card. Without the PDF and this email, you will not be issued an Access Card*.

3. Preceptored Students: Please contact your preceptor VIA EMAIL only, to make your schedule in accordance with theirs. Preceptor names and email addresses are typically found in HSPnet.
NOTE: drop-ins to any unit are NOT permitted under any circumstance.

4. Students in a GROUP with a Clinical Instructor: ONLY the CI may contact the CPL of the unit prior to start-date. From there, CI and entire group should have a plan of where to meet PRIOR to group's first day on the unit. NOTE: Drop-ins to any unit are not permitted under any circumstance
