2021 Foundation of the AAGL: John F. Steege Mentorship Award Application

The John F. Steege Mentorship Endowment, established in 2016, recognizes outstanding AAGL members who have provided at least ten years of support and mentorship to future generations of minimally invasive gynecologic surgeons. Dr. Steege famously created one of the AAGL’s earliest Fellowships with the objective of training academicians. Many of his original fellows have remained in academic positions with several going on to establish their own fellowship programs. This award honors that tradition of mentorship and is supported by an educational grant from CooperSurgical.

To be eligible for this prestigious award, nominees must have provided ten or more years of support and mentorship to future generations of MIG surgeons. Nominees must be a current member of the AAGL and a practicing or retired physician. If selected and travel restrictions permit, the award winner must accept the award in-person during General Session, Monday, November 15, 2021 at the AAGL 50th Global Congress in Austin, Texas. Current members of the AAGL and FAAGL Board of Directors are not eligible for this award. Self-nominations are acceptable and should include a letter of reference.

A Foundation of the AAGL committee will evaluate the nominations and select the award winner. This award will be presented at the 2021 AAGL 50th Global Congress. The winner will receive complimentary registration to the Global Congress, recognition as the award winner and presentation of a crystal flame commemorative statue.

Nominations are due by midnight PST, on Friday, August 20, 2021.
