Healthy Alliance IPA and United Way of the Greater Capital Region are excited to announce the
Changemaker Fund: money that will be made available to up to 15 small community-based organizations on the front lines of community-wide change in priority areas across the region. This opportunity comes on the heels of the implementation of a COVID-19 vaccine pre-registration tool, created by Healthy Alliance IPA, to infuse equity into the vaccine delivery system, and United Way’s 2020 Five to Watch program designed to invest in Black and Brown leadership while supporting social justice broadly.
Although any participating organization of Healthy Alliance IPA is welcome to apply, this funding is intended to promote the work of small grassroots organizations led by Black, Indigenous, People of Color, Asian American, and Pacific Islanders. Healthy Alliance IPA and United Way of the Greater Capital Region believe that successfully changing the community we serve for the better depends on bringing an intentional, explicit, and sustained focus to address inequities of all kinds.
Providing unique access to critical resources, unrestricted operational funding, and collaborative learning opportunities remains a core focus of the Changemaker Fund. Awardees will be expected to use the Healthy Together Referral Platform to capture and share data and participate in a learning curriculum – ranging from trainings to interactive workshops – using a cohort model designed to accelerate mutual learning.
If selected, a representative from Healthy Alliance IPA will contact you to begin work on an implementation plan and corresponding timeline. Once the plan and subsequent contract is agreed upon and signed off by Leadership of all parties involved, $25,000 will be awarded. Your progress will be reviewed monthly and technical service will be provided, as needed. By the end of the contract period, the awardee is expected to use Healthy Together as the primary form for sending and receiving referrals, systematically providing client demographic and service data to the IPA regularly. This will set the framework and infrastructure for future work and – if effective – may warrant an additional $25,000 at a later date.
Eligibility:
- BIPOC-led; and
- A participating organization of Healthy Alliance IPA; and
- Have an annual income of less than $2M; and
- Provide the following services: Community Mental Health, Economic Stability (ex. financial literacy, housing, workforce development, employment, etc.), and/or Community Wellness (ex. early childhood development and education, youth success, family support, food security, etc.); and
- Provide services in: Albany, Schenectady, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Fulton, Montgomery, Schoharie, Columbia, and/or Greene County.
Review Process:
- Complete the form; submit by June 4th.
- Applications will be reviewed.
- Selections will be made based on number of awards available, diversity of leadership, annual income of less than $2M, and alignment with priority services listed above with a specific focus on Black, Latinx, immigrant, and rural communities within the priority service areas.
- A representative from Healthy Alliance IPA will notify the organizations selected to move forward by mid-June.
