All members of the Jefferson community are invited to participate in the Jefferson College of Life Sciences (JCLS) Alumni Awards process by nominating exceptional alumni for consideration by the Alumni Awards Committee for the below awards:
Distinguished Alumni Award—Established in 1983 to recognize the outstanding professional achievements of JCLS graduates and to foster communication between current and former students, the Distinguished Alumni Award is presented each year during JCLS Alumni Day, during which the honoree is invited to present on their career achievements and meet current students and postdoctoral fellows, alumni, and faculty. Considerations are made to the nominee's application of their Jefferson education and training to:
- significant scientific, academic, professional, entrepreneurial, industry, or other important contributions to progressing life science;
- evidence of outstanding mentorship;
- service to the community; and/or
- contributions to forwarding the stature of Thomas Jefferson University
Early Career Alumni Award—Established in 2020 to recognize the outstanding professional achievements of JCLS graduates within 10 years of their graduation, the Early Career Alumni Award is presented each year during JCLS Alumni Day and recipients are selected for their early career achievements and demonstrated potential to be future leaders in their field. Considerations are made to the nominee's application of their Jefferson education and training:
- scientific, academic, professional, entrepreneurial, industry, or other contributions to progressing life science;
- service to the community;
- demonstrated leadership potential within their chosen field; or
- contributions to forwarding the stature of Thomas Jefferson University
Eligibility
Jefferson, Textile, and Philadelphia University alumni and post-graduate alumni and trainees from programs now housed within the College of Life Sciences are eligible for the awards, which are annually presented at JCLS Alumni Day. (

To submit a nomination, please complete this form with information on the nominee and a letter of nomination explaining the nominee's professional achievements including the above criteria. Attach the nominee's current résumé or CV. Additional supporting materials may also be included, but are not required. Documents may also be emailed to
alumni@jefferson.edu with the nominee's name and class year.
