LSAC Pathway Grant Applications

Purpose of Grants
The Law School Admission Council, Inc. (“LSAC”) is committed to promoting access in legal education and the legal profession. The LSAC Pathway Grant (the “Grant”) program makes awards to institutions for programming focused on one or more of the following goals:
  • Goal 1: Early Access/Outreach
    Introducing the law and careers in law to students, particularly students facing access and opportunity barriers to information and education, before high school graduation
  • Goal 2: Score Performance
    Increasing LSAT scores of program participants, particularly participants facing access and opportunity barriers to information, education, and other supports/resources  
  • Goal 3: Supporting Admissions
    Ensuring all applicants, including applicants facing access and opportunity barriers to information, education, and other supports/resources  have access, opportunity, and support in the law school process
  • Goal 4: 1L Retention
    Reducing attrition rates and increasing persistence for law students after the first year of law school, particularly students facing access and opportunity barriers to information, education, and other supports/resources

Proposals must include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Program Description: Provide a detailed description of the program’s goals, proposed curriculum including student outcomes, recruitment and selection process, administrative and instructional staffing, and full project period.
  • Resumes: Attach resumes for key administrative and instructional staff.
  • Sustainability Plan: The plan should demonstrate future plans for securing institutional and/or external support for long-term funding beyond the grant. The plan should include descriptions of internal partners, proposed fundraising initiatives with clear timelines, and staff tasked with this work.
  • Evaluation Plan: Your proposal must include a plan for conducting an evaluation of the effectiveness of the program’s implementation and achievement of outcomes.
  • Budget: As a separate document, proposals must include a detailed budget not to exceed $9,000 in an Excel format. Also, please include a Word document, outlining the full project period as well as corresponding budget justification.
  • Tax Determination Status: LSAC only awards grants to U.S. 501(c)(3) organizations and other tax-exempt organizations. We do not make grants to individuals. Please include your organization’s official notice of tax-exempt status from the IRS.
