2021 SNSMOPS Call for Workshops

2021 Southern Nevada Virtual Substance Misuse and Overdose Prevention Summit Call for Workshops
The Southern Nevada Opioid Advisory Council is hosting the 2021 Southern Nevada Virtual Substance Misuse and Overdose Prevention Summit on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 8AM – 5PM. With the uncertainty around COVID-19, the Southern Nevada Opioid Advisory Council is hoping to have a hybrid summit and is still determining what that might look like. As you submit your abstract, keep in mind that the 2021 Southern Nevada Substance Misuse and Overdose Prevention Summit may be a virtual event. This full day summit will focus on making connections and sharing the amazing work around overdose prevention taking place in Southern Nevada. Please find this invitation below for community stakeholders to submit workshop proposals surrounding social determinants of health, the prevention of (primary, secondary, and tertiary) and treatment/recovery of substance use disorders.
SNOAC Mission
Develop a systems-level response to the Southern Nevada substance use crisis through evidence-based strategies and unique community collaborations.

2021 Summit Theme
We envision a community where not one life is lost to substance misuse or overdose. In order to achieve this goal, we must address the social determinants of health to prevent substance misuse and overdose in our community: racism and discrimination, housing, education, income, and neighborhood conditions. Join us for the 2021 Southern Nevada Substance Misuse and Overdose Prevention Summit as we discuss collaborating in traditional and nontraditional ways to analyze health equity data and adopting a “health in all policies” approach to create the healthiest community,
Selected proposals should highlight innovative practices, practice and/or evidence-based culturally supported approaches for working with specific communities, successful collaborations, overdose survivor-centered and trauma-informed advocacy and/or public policy. Our goal is an innovative, interactive, and memorable summit! Technical assistance is available upon request to all selected presenters in regard to adapting their presentation and presentation activities to a virtual space as needed.
