Florida Department of Education - Holocaust Education Standards

Holocaust Education Standards - Reviewer Information

Next Generation Sunshine State Standards (NGSSS) establish the core content of the curricula to be taught in the state and specify the core content knowledge and skills that K-12 public school students are expected to acquire. Standards must be rigorous and relevant and provide for the logical, sequential progression of core curricular content that incrementally increases a student’s core content knowledge and skills over time. The NGSSS for Social Studies were initially approved by the State Board of Education in December 2008. Holocaust Education standards were not included in the NGSSS for Social Studies. House Bill (2020) 1213 required the department to prepare and offer Holocaust Education standards.
