2020-21 Big Apple Awards Nomination Form

Overview

NOMINATION DEADLINE: Sunday, January 10, 2021

Thank you for your interest in nominating an outstanding teacher for the ninth annual Big Apple Awards: Recognizing Teacher Excellence in New York City.

Why nominate a teacher?

  • Show your appreciation for a dedicated educator who has made an impact on you and/or your community.
  • Contribute to a citywide conversation about teaching excellence and showcase the work happening in your school community.
  • Make your teacher's day. Every time a teacher is nominated, they receive an email letting them know.
  • The teacher you nominate could be recognized as one of the Big Apple Award finalists or recipients. Recipients traditionally spend the following school year participating in the Big Apple Fellowship, representing teachers citywide as members of the Chancellor's Teacher Advisory Council.
  • All nominees will be considered for additional NYC DOE recognition opportunities throughout the year.

Who can I nominate?

Nominees must be be current, full-time teachers at New York City district schools, charter schools, or teaching full-day Infants, Toddlers, 3s or 4s at a NYC Early Education Center (NYCEEC). 

Please note that you may nominate more than one teacher for this award.

Who can submit a nomination?

Anyone can submit a nomination for a current teacher — students, families, teachers, administrators, community members.

  • Your name and a valid email address;
  • Basic information about your nominee (including their name and school);
  • A statement on why your nominee should be considered for the Awards.
