Lulu/Money Street Pedestrian Lane Project

In early November, the City of Augusta will be submitting an application to the KDOT Transportation Alternatives Grant Program for a project to construct a visually separated pedestrian lane along Lulu/Money Street between Highway 54/400 and Kelly Avenue. If the project moves forward, Lulu would be reconfigured with a pedestrian lane on one side of the road, a dedicated parking lane on the other side of the road, and two narrower driving lanes.  We are looking for feedback from the community on how they feel about specific design elements.  See example images of a visually separated pedestrian lane below, photos courtesy of RuralDesignGuide.com.

1. Are you a resident of the City of Augusta?
2. Do you either own property or live within 300 feet of the segment of Lulu/Money Street between 7th Street and Kelly Avenue (shown in map below)?
3. Do you work at or have children who attend Robinson Elementary School (located at 1301 Helen Street)?
4. Do your children walk or bike to school?
4. Do you believe that speeding is a safety problem on Lulu/Money Street?
5. Do you believe that pedestrians currently walking/biking/using a personal mobility device in the street is a safety problem on Lulu/Money Street?
6. How often do you see people walking/biking/using wheelchair or personal mobility device in the street on Lulu/Money?
7. How often do you or members of your household walk/bike/use a wheelchair or personal mobility device in the street on Lulu/Money?
8. Would you or members of your household be more likely to walk/bike/use a wheelchair or personal mobility device in the street on Lulu if a visually separated pedestrian lane were constructed?
9. Which side of Lulu/Money Street do you often see the most parked vehicles? (Note: On-street parking will be unavailable on whichever side of the street hosts the pedestrian lane)  For reference, Kelly Avenue is on the north side of this corridor.
10. Would you support the construction of a visually separated pedestrian lane along Lulu/Money Street from 7th Street north to Kelly Avenue?
11. Would you be interested in writing a brief letter of support to supplement the City's application for the Transportation Alternatives Grant Program? (Note: You can decline later if contacted)
11. Please provide an email and phone number at which you can be contacted.
11. Why do you not support the project?
