2020-2021 Student Wellness Advisory Committee Application

Apply to the Student Wellness Advisory Committee!

The Student Wellness Advisory Committee is an advisory group of the New York City Department of Education (NYC DOE) Office of School Wellness Programs. Members of the Student Wellness Advisory Committee build health leadership and advocacy skills and share their perspectives on what health, physical education, and other wellness programs currently look like in NYC schools. Committee members collaborate with the Office of School Wellness Programs and the District Wellness Advisory Council on ways to improve school health for students citywide. Committee members:
  • Commit to participating for the 2020-2021 school year
  • Engage in 1-2 virtual Committee or subcommittee meetings per month centered around health leadership advocacy and skills
  • Share ideas and recommendations on ways to advance health education, PE, and wellness-related initiatives in NYC public schools
  • Collaborate with other young people from across NYC on various health initiatives and campaigns
As our school communities continue to grapple with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing racial injustice, young people of all ages, identities, and background, in our City and nationwide, are rising up to advocate for meaningful change to the policies and practices that impact them the most. The Student Wellness Advisory Committee seeks to represent the diversity of our City, especially our communities that have been historically marginalized, underserved, and underrepresented. We invite you to apply to be part of the Student Wellness Advisory Committee.
