Mentor Application

Are you a new or returning mentor? *This question is required.
Thank you for inquiring to become a Mentor with Delaware Adolescent Program, Inc. (DAPI).  We are excited you chose DAPI to give of your time to one of our students.

The Delaware Adolescent Program, Inc. (DAPI) is the only statewide comprehensive school-based nonprofit agency whose mission is to provide a standards-based education for pregnant and parenting teens with unique outreach, mentoring and supportive service promoting empowerment and self-sufficiency.

DAPI is an alternative fresh start for pregnant and parenting teens to receive the health & social services they need to continue education during and after pregnancy. It is a program designed to help pregnant teens achieve academic success and strive to reach their highest potential. One way we accomplish this goal is through our Mentoring Program. Mentoring allows students to build positive and trusting relationships with individuals outside of their normal environment. It is a way for students to learn new skills and gain new perspectives while they maneuver through life’s journey.

Our program consists of pairing our students with woman who can provide the following:

1.  Help students envision the possibilities and a world outside of their current circumstance
2.  Promote education including post-graduation plans
3.  Provide insight based on their own experiences
4.  Be an active listener – someone the student can confide in without judgement
5.  Listen. Promote, and encourage the student to make wise decisions
6.  Build a positive and trusting relationship with the student

Please complete and return the attached application along with a copy of your resume. Upon receipt, you will be contacted to schedule a meeting. If you have any question, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@dapi.org.

Thank you again for your time.  We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

The entire DAPI Family
