About Checkpoint Game Jam
Checkpoint Game Jam brings together game developers from across Southeast Asia to design games that promote pro-social behaviour, digital resilience, and safer, more inclusive online communities.
At its core, it’s a game jam focused on preventing violent extremism (PVE), challenging developers to create experiences that help players recognize and counter the pathways to radicalization to violence before they take hold.
Checkpoint Game Jam will run over three phases:
- Two-Day Jam: The jam kicks off with a 2-day sprint on 15-16 October 2026.
- Two-Week Jam: Immediately following the Two-Day jam, the Two-Week phase begins. From 17-31 October 2026, build and iterate your game.
- After the first two phases, a top 20 teams will be selected to participate in an extended Two-Month Jam, running from 15 November 2026 – 10 January 2027.
Following the Two-Month Jam, a minimum of four - with the possibility of up to five -
will be invited to Tokyo the week of February 15, 2027, to pitch their games for a chance to win best overall game and opportunities to win funding support to further build out their games.
Travel and accommodation for one representative from each selected team will be covered by Checkpoint Game Jam!

preventing violent extremism. That’s why we’re bringing together resources, expert led webinars and more to help you create the best game possible.
Organized by the United Nations (UNOCT and UNICRI) in coordination with Global Game Jam.
Games will be submitted via the jam itch.io page; however, all team members must also register here for the jam.
