BRIEFcase Program Application

The Local Edition of the MHC EDC's Business Relocation Incentive and Expansion Fund (BRIEFcase) Program's is now available to assist local businesses with capital investment funding assistance. Specifically for existing small businesses already in Martinsville or Henry County, this grant will provide incentives for taxable capital expenditures that can help your business grow.

Eligibility:

Must be used for purchases deemed taxable as defined by the locale's Commissioner of Revenue. Examples include certain equipment, machinery, business vehicles, newly constructed buildings/additions, etc. This does NOT normally include inventory, aesthetic improvements, signage, operating expenses, payroll, etc.
Must employ 4-30 employees.
Must be an active for-profit business for 2+years.
Must have a physical location in Martinsville or Henry County. No online or remote businesses.
Purchases/Receipts must be dated between January 1-April 30, 2024.

Awards:

Funding is limited and competitive. Grants are awarded at the sole discretion of the EDC and are not by right (All applicants are not guaranteed funding.)
Awards are made as REIMBURSEMENTS. Receipts must be presented. Ongoing billing or account-based billing is not eligible.
Applications accepted through March 31 and awarded by April 15. Purchases/Receipts must be dated between January 1-April 30, 2024. (i.e. actual purchases can be made through April 30, however awards will be conditional until receipt is presented.)
