Intern To Work - Register Your Interest Summer 2022

The City & Guilds internship programme, ‘Intern To Work,' is a great opportunity for young people from less advantaged backgrounds to gain paid work, training and networking over a six-week period. The programme runs this year from 18th July to 26th August and applications open on 10th June 2022. Please complete the form below to ensure you are sent the application when it is live.


To be eligible for the programme you must be aged 16-24not currently studying towards a degree (unless you are in your final year) and meet two of the six eligibility criteria:
 

Criteria

1. First generation to go to university: None of your parents have gone to university. If you have older siblings who have gone to university you are still eligible.

2. A care leaver: You have been looked after by a local authority for at least 13 weeks since the age of 14 and at the school-leaving age or after that date.

3. A young carer / young adult carer: You care, unpaid, for a person who has any type of physical or mental illness, physical and/or mental disability or misuses substances such as alcohol or drugs. 

4. In receipt of, or previously been eligible for free school meals: Free school schools are available for children who come from low income families or those whose parents receive certain benefits. If you are unsure you can click here to see whether you or your parents would have qualified whilst you were in secondary school. It may also worth checking with your parent or guardian.

5. Attained less than five GCSEs at C/5 and above, including English or Maths or past or predicted grades CCC or less at A-level (or equivalent):
- Less than 5 GCSE’s at C/5 and above, e.g. Maths (4), History (3), and Science (3)
- Past or predicted grades CCC or less at A Level, e.g. Psychology (C), PE (C), RE (D)

6. Live in 30% of most deprived areas of the UK. *measured by the indices of deprivation: Click here to find out whether you live within the 30% most deprived areas of the UK. Enter your postcode in the box and then click ‘get deprivation area’ which will generate a report for you to download. Column F must show a score 3 or below for you to meet this criteria. If you struggle with this we’ll also check for you.
